Common questions
How do I connect my parent's phone?
- On your phone, set up the checklist, then tap Connect Mom's phone.
- On their phone, install SyncPill, choose I take medications, then Yes, I have a code, and type the 6-digit code from your text message.
- Tap Allow reminders. That's it.
How does a second helper join, like a brother or sister?
On your phone: Settings, then Invite another helper, and send them the 6-digit code. They install SyncPill, choose I help someone, sign in, tap I have a helper invite code and type it. If they're with you, they can scan the QR code with their iPhone camera instead. Two helpers share one subscription.
The reminders don't ring.
Open the iPhone's Settings app, tap SyncPill, then Notifications, and turn on Allow Notifications. Also check that Do Not Disturb or a Focus mode isn't on. SyncPill shows a notice on the checklist when notifications are off.
My parent took a dose but forgot to tap.
On your phone, tap Mark as taken next to it. You can do this the same day, on the home screen.
How do I cancel my subscription?
On your iPhone: Settings, then your name, then Subscriptions, then SyncPill. Your parent's reminders keep working for free.
How do I delete my data?
In the app. Helpers: Settings, then Delete my account. Using it on your own: Edit, then Delete my data. See the privacy policy for what happens to each kind of data.
SyncPill helps you keep track of medications. It doesn't give medical advice: always follow your doctor's or pharmacist's instructions.

What we collect, why, who can see it, and how to delete it.
Who we are
SyncPill is made by , . Our Privacy Officer is in charge of protecting your personal information and can be reached at .
What we collect
If you use SyncPill for your own pills
- the first name or nickname you enter;
- your medications: names, notes, photos you add, whether they go with food, and the times and days you take them;
- when you check off a dose, or tap “Not yet, I'm eating later”;
- your phone's language, the app version, and when the app last opened (so a helper can tell if the phone is off).
You don't create an account, and we don't ask for your email, phone number or address.
If you are a helper, we also store
- your email address (to send you a sign-in code);
- your first name, your language and your alert settings;
- messages you send to the person (“Did you take your pills?”).
We do not collect
your contacts, your location, your phone number, health records from other apps, or any advertising identifier. When a helper invites someone by text message, the message is sent from the helper's own Messages app; SyncPill never sees or stores the phone number. Payments are handled by Apple: we only learn whether a subscription is active.
Why we use it
Only to run the app: to show the checklist, send reminders, tell helpers when a dose is missed or the phone stops checking in, let you sign in, keep the service secure (for example, limiting how many link codes a phone can try), and answer you when you contact us.
We don't sell your information, show ads, build profiles, or use it to train AI models.
Consent
Medication information is sensitive. We ask for your consent on the app's first screen, before anything is entered, and you can withdraw it at any time by deleting your data.
A helper who sets up SyncPill for someone else must have that person's permission, or be legally allowed to act for them. The person can see everything on their own phone.
Who can see it
- The person and their helpers (at most two) see the checklist and check-offs. Nobody else using SyncPill can.
- Our service providers, only to run the service: Supabase (database and storage, in Canada), Apple (notifications and payments), (sign-in emails), and (subscription status).
- Authorities, only if the law requires it.
Where it's stored
In Canada, in Supabase's Montreal region. It's encrypted on the way to our servers and while stored. Each phone and helper can only reach the information they're linked to; the database itself enforces this.
Some of our providers are based outside Quebec, and their staff may reach the information in rare cases (for example, to fix an outage). We assessed the risks before using them and require them to protect it.
Canada's privacy laws apply to this information: the federal Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and Quebec's Act respecting the protection of personal information in the private sector. They give you the right to see and correct your information, require us to protect it, and require us to report serious breaches. If you live outside Canada, your information is sent to Canada when you use the app; you agree to this on the app's first screen.
How long we keep it
Deleting your information
- Using the app for yourself: tap Edit, then “Delete my data”. Your checklist and history are deleted from your phone and from our servers.
- Helpers: Settings, then “Delete my account”. Your account and messages are deleted. The person you help keeps their checklist and reminders on their own phone and can keep using SyncPill for free.
Copies in our backups disappear within 7 days.
Consumer health data (Washington, Nevada and other U.S. states)
Some U.S. states, such as Washington and Nevada, have their own rules for health information. This is how they apply to SyncPill:
- What we collect: medication names, notes and photos, dose times and check-offs, which can reveal a health condition.
- Where it comes from: you, or a helper you're linked with.
- Why: only to provide the reminders, the shared checklist and the alerts you asked for.
- Who receives it: the person and the helpers linked to the checklist, and the service providers listed above, which process it only on our behalf. We never sell it.
- Your choices: you can see it, delete it or withdraw your consent at any time, from the app or by writing to . Without this information the app can't work, so withdrawing consent ends the service.
Your rights
You can ask us what we hold about you, for a copy in a common format, to correct it, or to delete it. Write to ; we answer within 30 days.
If you're not satisfied with our answer, you can complain to the Commission d'accès à l'information du Québec, the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada, or the data protection authority where you live.
Children
SyncPill is not meant for children under 14.
If something goes wrong
If a confidentiality incident could cause you serious harm, we will tell you and the authorities as soon as possible, and keep a record of it.
